Privacy Policy

This policy explains what PuffinScout collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose. If a term is unclear, ask us before you rely on it.

What we collect

Account details you give us: your email, and the brands, websites and categories you add to track.
Product usage: pages viewed and actions taken in the app, so we can improve it.
Data you connect: if you connect Google (below), the read-only performance data for the property you choose.

Connecting Google (Search Console and Analytics)

Connecting Google is optional. If you connect it, you grant PuffinScout read-only access to the Google property you choose, so we can show you your own search and traffic performance and turn it into recommendations. We ask only for read-only scopes; we never post, change or delete anything in your Google account.

PuffinScout's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In plain terms:

We use the Google data only to provide and improve the features you see in the app (your performance, the tasks we suggest, the results).
We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
We do not use it to train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
Only the people who need it to run the service can access it, and only when needed.

You can disconnect Google at any time from your account. Disconnecting revokes our access and deletes the tokens and connected data we stored for that property.

How we use your data

To run the service: track where AI answers and search name you, find the opportunities worth doing, and show you what changed. We also use aggregate, de-identified usage to improve the product. We do not sell your data.

How we store and protect it

Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure. Access tokens for connected accounts are encrypted at rest. Access is limited to the people and systems that operate the service.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that help us run PuffinScout (for example hosting, email delivery, and payment processing), under agreements that limit their use to providing those services. We do not sell data or share it for others' advertising.

Keeping it, and deleting it

We keep data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete a connection, a brand, or your whole account; when you do, we delete the associated data (subject to any limited retention the law requires).

Your choices

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and disconnect any connected account, from your account or by contacting us. If you are in a region with data-protection rights (such as the EEA or UK), those rights apply.

Children

PuffinScout is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email.
